Band Practice

Currently OSPD practice at the East Malvern RSL located on Stanley Grose Dr, Malvern East VIC 3145. Our usual practice schedule times are 7:30pm - 9:30pm on a Wednesday night and 10:30am - 12:30pm on a Sunday morning.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions all band practice sessions are on hold until late October, please stay tuned for any updates.

An important aspect of the band’s activities over the course of the year is the opportunity to perform at public engagements. Many of these are regular events in the OSPD calendar. Some, such as Anzac Day, are undertaken as a public service, while others are paid events which are an important income source for the band. These engagements are also a great way for the band to promote itself to the broader community and are enjoyable from a musical and social aspect for the band’s members.  The current regular engagements include: 

  • Balnarring Australia Day Picnic Races

  • Croydon RSL – Anzac March and Ceremony

  • Melbourne Anzac Day March

  • Very Special Kids Malvern - Community Fair

  • Run for Life Hawthorn

  • Old Scotch Collegians Association - Annual Dinner

  • Southland Christmas Parade

All members are encouraged to support the band in its participation in these engagements and playouts.

As well as engagements that involve the full or mini bands, there are also playouts that seek the services of a solo piper. These including weddings, birthdays, funerals and private functions.

Scots Day Out

We are pleased to announce that the date planned for the return of SDO - after being forced to skip 2021 due to COVID restrictions - will be Saturday March 5.

As the last major Scottish celebration held in Victoria before the pandemic struck, we have continued to hold hope of being back in Bendigo's amazing Rosalind Park sooner rather than later.
